National Geographic Traveler magazine has announced the results of its coveted “Best of the World” list, and Kauai, Hawaii’s "Island of Discovery" and also sometimes referred to as "The Garden isle," has been listed as just one of three locations from the United States and the only Hawaiian Island showcased. The top magazine's travel imprint only featured 21 must-see destinations in 2017. National Geographic Traveler’s global network of editors, writers and explorers all nominated the “Best of the World” destinations and the list will be published in the December 2016/January 2017 issue. Check out the list online here.
“It’s a great honor for Kauai to be recognized by National Geographic Traveler and such an esteemed group of travel professionals,” said Sue Kanoho, executive director of the Kauai Visitors Bureau.
“With Kauai’s tropical weather, scenic wonders including
Waimea Canyon, the Napali Coast, and diverse range
of hiking trails, the Garden Isle is an ideal destination
for all explorers. Kauai allows travelers to rejuvenate
their spirit, reconnect with family and friends and
discover Kauai’s natural beauty.”
Kauai is a verdant and lush paradise green that which mountains and ocean and offers more than 50 miles of white-sand beaches, which is more beach per mile than any other island in Hawaii. Our favorite landmark is the Napali Coast, which consists of 3,000-foot towering mountain cliffs that run along the northwest shoreline and provide a stunning contrast of emerald green to the sapphire blue waters.
