Luxury Swiss watchmaker Roger Dubuis adds to its "Velvet" line of bejeweled timepieces by saluting the timeless divas of the silver screen. According to Watchtime, Dubuis has launched three new models in its Velvet collection, designed in collaboration with Parisian designer Maison Massaro. The elegant ladies wristwatches were inspired by Swedish screen legend Greta Garbo, film noir "Gilda" star Rita Hayworth, and petite platinum blonde siren Lana Turner.
Each timepiece in the Roger Dubuis Velvet by Massaro collection is one of a limited edition of 88 pieces, and carry the prestigious Geneva Hallmark. All three watches have a specially designed strap, made from the same leather that Massaro uses in his ladies’ footwear collections, and featuring unique adornments at the center of the strap.
The Rita Hayworth model features gold leather with a braided effect, yellow-gold, white gold, 262 diamond pave, and applied yellow gold Roman numeral appliques at 6 and 12 o’clock...all for a cool $48,500.
The Great Garbo model harks back to the screen legend's silent days as a mysterious vamp, with black feathers woven into its black strap; a black lacquer dial with charcoal gray Roman numerals. The rose-gold case is set with 86 diamonds (rose was Garbo's favorite color), while 14 more diamonds appear on the rose-gold clasp. A steal at $41,000.
The Lana Turner model is fittingly created in glistening silver and pearls, which were favorite adornments of the Sweater Girl. The dial is in brushed silvered, complemented by the white-gold case, which is set with 86 diamonds. The appliqués at 6 and 12 o’clock, as well as the clasp, are also in white gold. Yours for a glittering $42,000.
